About Me
I am a designer, fine artist and educator living in Brooklyn, New York. My focus is in fashion and fiber-based work that combines the technical engineering of fashion design with the conceptual, ideological pursuits of fine arts. My areas of expertise are:
- Design and Production for Fine Artists and Institutions: Specializing in hand and machine sewn projects with traditional and non-traditional materials. Patternmaking, design, and production for garments and sculptural works.
- Custom Designs: Clothing, accessories, home decor, product prototypes, etc.
- Sewing instruction: Private and group lessons in garment construction, accessories, home goods and more.
I specialize in clothing, accessories, textiles hand-felted, dyed and stitched. Environmental sustainability is important to my process, using natural fibers and reclaimed materials in my work. A historical fashion enthusiast, I skillfully create vintage reproduction garments and repair original vintage pieces using period construction techniques and hand finishings. I worked as a Studio Assistant to artist Nick Cave in 2010 and 2011, using meticulous hand sewing techniques used to create embroidered, quilted, and appliqued surface designs for his Sound Suits.
